Vent log is a private journal. Nothing you write is published, shown to another user, or sold.
When you save a vent, the text, the date and the emotion labels are written to your device. Delete the app and that copy goes with it.
Signing in goes through Firebase Authentication, a Google service. It holds your email address and the credentials that let you sign back in. Vents are not sent to it.
Saving a vent sends its text to our classifier so it can come back tagged. The classifier is a model running on a server of ours rather than a third party's API, so nobody else receives the text, and the server discards it once it has answered.
Cloud Backup starts off. Switch it on in Settings and your vents are copied to Google Firestore under your account, so you can get them back on a new phone. Switching it off again stops further copying but leaves whatever was already uploaded in place; see below for removing it.
Apple bills the subscription through your App Store account. We never see your card, your billing address or your Apple ID. All we learn from Apple is whether the subscription is currently active. Cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.
There is neither. The app ships without an ad SDK and without an analytics SDK, which also means there is no profile of you being assembled for advertisers and nothing following you into other apps or websites.
Vent log is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
To delete one vent, press and hold it, then tap the trash button.
To close your account, use Delete Account in Settings. That removes your sign-in record and the copy of your vents held on the phone. If you had ever switched Cloud Backup on, the uploaded copy is not covered by that button yet: email hankimproduction@gmail.com from the address on the account and it will be deleted within 30 days.
If this policy changes, so does the date at the top of this page.
